We had our first bouvier in 1980, a male Orka. He was a real working dog, of a good type. Rugged hard hair with the typical bouvier character, vigilant, courageous and smart. In short, all the qualities why we love this breed. He was the ideal dog for us to work with and he did this with so much surrender that we often had to restrain him.
Since that time we have always had bouviers, we work with the dogs and go regularly to shows and all kinds of events. It was and still is our greatest hobby and passion. In 1996 we registered our hobby kennel Bouviers van het Bergbos at the K.M.S.H (Belgian Kennel Club). Since then, we breed occasionally a nest of balanced Bouviers des Flandres.
By breeding an occasional litter from selected parents, we ensure that we can maintain the purebred standard in our hobby kennel. The bouviers in our breeding program all come from top bloodlines with a balanced mix of character and beauty. Our dogs have a stable and balanced character, we guarantee that.
The Bouvier des Flandres comes from both Belgian and French Flanders. He was originally used as a cattle driver and supervisor of customs officials at the French - Belgian border.
The Bouvier des Flandres is a working dog and is also suitable for this. As a working dog, the Bouvier combines courage with reason and is thus usable on many fronts. The bouvier can easily put all work aside and be a very sweet friend.
The Bouvier des Flandres has a weatherproof coat. This protects him against almost any climate. The Bouvier coat requires little maintenance. Brushing weekly and trim out dead hairs twice per year is sufficient. You can do this yourself, or have it done at a professional trimmer. It is very important that it is done correctly, otherwise you will destroy the structure of the coat which is its protection against both cold and heat.
We breed according to the standards of the Belgian Bouvier des Flandres Club. Our dogs are regularly checked by the veterinarian. Puppies are delivered with a guarantee, vaccination booklet, chip, DNA test, pedigree Sint Hubertus (FCI), information leaflet, starter pack and so on. Our dogs are part of the family. They are social, fair, playful and courageous. We are member of the KMSH (Belgian Kennel Club) since 1999.
